Backsplash Tile - Finally!
I FINALLY picked out the tile for the backsplash!! I had something so specific in mind, that it was so hard to find it (and find it in our price range). This tile was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but it was so pretty, I caved:
And here's what it's going to look like in a kitchen (except in the pic below, the tile is green, not blue like I ordered.)
The company I ordered from offers free shipping (awesome!) but I'm not sure I want to recommend them....
See, I ordered a sample of the tile online. And the transaction for that purchase went through in California. Well, that same day, my credit card number was used at some shoe store in California AND at a Jack in the Box in California. Yeah...I'm definitely NOT in California eating at Jack in the Box and buying $300 worth of shoes...
Luckily my credit card company is awesome and they canceled my card and will reimburse me for those charges. But I just find it a little fishy that my tile purchase went through in CA and the fraudulent charges went through in CA. I emailed the company, but they just apologized and said that their online purchases are handled by a separate company. Boo.
I still ordered my tile from them. But I called this time to order and gave my credit card number over the phone. (So now I'll KNOW it's them if it happens again!) :)
The tile is supposed to arrive next Tuesday - I can't wait to see how it looks installed!!

Stone Point Church
So I really wanted to do a blog post about the church that Josh and I have been involved with. But I really wanted to wait until I had enough time to fully explain what we were doing and put it in my own words.
If you live in or around Atlanta, you've probably heard of the HUGE church in Alpharetta, GA called North Point Church. Well, North Point got so big that they started to branch out – they started "satellite churchs" in downtown Atlanta (Buckhead Church) and another one in Cumming, GA (Brownsbridge Church). The pastor, Andy Stanley, preaches on Sunday morning at North Point - and Buckhead and Brownsbridge have these big screens where they project the live video of Andy preaching. He really looks like he's there! Anyway, these churchs got so popular, that people who lived in other parts of Georgia and even in other states wanted to share in the messages and style of these churchs. So now there are a bunch of these type of churchs poping up all over the country.
We were going to a church called Rehoboth Baptist - we ended up there because (1) it was super close to our house, (2) they were the only church we could find in our area that had a contemporary, modern style service, (3) we liked the preacher and (4) they offered small groups. However, the church had a lot of "politics" and seemed divided between the younger generations in the contemporary service and the older generations that attended the traditional service. Eventually, the pastor we liked decided to leave (for "political" reasons, to put it nicely). A couple in our small group also decided to stop going to the church (but kept coming to our small group). About a month later, that couple approached us to tell us that they had joined up with a group of 4 other couples (who also once attended Rehoboth) that were trying to start a North Point Strategic Partner church on the east side of Atlanta. We were intrigued, so we met with the guy who was leading it up - Tensley. He told us about his dream to create a church that people who didn't go to church wanted to go to.
We’ve been involved since October and...we love it!!! The mission of the church is “to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by creating irresistible environments that make it easy for people to turn to God.” Basically, the whole mission of the church is to be a church that people who don’t go to church actually want to go to and that they will love to attend. And I have first hand experience in that – I resisted church so long and it wasn’t until I met Josh in college that I finally started believing and actually wanting to go to church.
The mission of this church stands out to me and really resonates with what I believe. The church focuses on community and small groups, shares messages that are relevant to our lives, and - most importantly - helps people grow closer to God. It’s SO exciting to be involved in something like this! I prayed so much when I was laid off for God to show me what to do in life – to give me a purpose. I really believe he led me to this and I hope we can help other people find what I’m finding!

MOH
Yes, that's right - I'm the matron of honor for my good friend Robin's wedding! And I am sooooo EXCITED! I'm not one of those girls who has a billion friends and ends up being a bridesmaid a billion times. I've been a bridesmaid twice - for my sister's wedding and for my friend Lauren's wedding. And I LOVE weddings. So I'm just giddy at the thought of being a part of another one!
Miss Robin, aka - future Mrs. Freeman, has chosen an adorable color for our dresses (eggplant!) and then let us pick out the style. Here's what I picked:
Super cute! Plus it's giving in the stomach area, just in case I gain some weight or happen to have a bigger belly for some reason or another...teeheehee.
We're wearing gold shoes and I'm totally getting my hair put up in some fun up-do. Maybe something similar to what I had done at Lauren's wedding?

Catching Up
Ok, I've been a bad blogger lately. Work was super busy...and then when it slowed down, I kind of lost my mojo for writing. But I'm back! To catch up...
Work's been better lately. A bit slower paced -which has been nice after the last few months. And praise the lord - our company is doing well and we're actually getting raises AND bonuses! Thank God!
And...I don't want to jinks anything...but the hubs and I may be planning a trip for the fall. A trip of a lifetime! More about that later though. I'm scared to talk about it too much since I REALLY want it to happen...I'll give you a hint though: :)
We're going to Vegas the first week of April - I'm super excited about that. Staying at the Luxor - so cool! Can't wait to party it up!
I went to my first "club" in Atlanta a few weekends ago - the Gold Room. Yes, I'm 26 and just now went to my first club. Well, except for lame-o Club Europe that I went to when I was 18...but that doesn't count cuz it's an 18-and-up club and it was...well...lame. :) But I wasn't impressed with the Gold Room either. I think I'm more of a bar girl. I like places where there's less pressure to dress super hot, a place that's calmer, quieter, and a place where a rum and coke doesn't cost $9. But we were there to celebrate my good friend Veena's b-day and I DID have fun hanging out with her and dancing the night away!
We might be getting roommates - my best bud and her hubby might be moving in for a while. I think we'll have a ton of fun!
We haven't made much progress with the kitchen. I still can't make up my mind about the backsplash! I've got one more sample coming in the mail that I want to look at and then I've GOT to decide. We're so close to finishing!!
I think that's about it for now! Tonight we're heading to Dave and Busters to celebrate another friends birthday. Tomorrow we've got a church event...which reminds me - I want to write a blog post about our church....gotta remember to do that!
